Clemson to face Virginia Sunday in an ACC match

CLEMSON, SC–The Clemson men’s soccer team will play host to fifth-ranked Virginia at Riggs Field Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m.

Clemson has a 7-4 record overall and a 2-1 mark in the ACC. Virginia has a 10-2 record overall, and a 2-1 mark in league play. The Cavaliers are ranked fifth by the NSCAA and 15th by Soccer America.

This will be the 44th meeting between Clemson and Virginia on the soccer field. The Cavaliers lead the overall series 20-18-5.

Senior forward, Steven Rhyne leads the Tigers in scoring with nine goals and three assists for 21 points.

The match has been designated as a One Clemson…Solid Orange event.

Clemson Athletics is encouraging all Tiger fans to show their spirit and wear ORANGE for the second annual One Clemson…Solid Orange men’s soccer event

During the 2004-2005 season, selected men’s and women’s basketball, football, men’s soccer and baseball games, an additional fee will be applied to each game ticket sold for the designated One Clemson…Solid Orange event. Last year, at the final One Clemson…Solid Orange event of the 2003-2004 season, the Clemson University Athletic Department presented a check in the amount $ 39,015 for the One Clemson Fund.

The proceeds from the One Clemson…Solid Orange events are to be used for specific One Clemson academic efforts. The One Clemson concept recognizes the strength of unity in everything we do as a University. The One Clemson Fund supports the University’s academic goals that will further enhance the ability of Clemson University to make for a stronger South Carolina and nation.

Admission for the Clemson-Virginia men’s soccer match is $8.00 for adults and $6.00 for youth. Faculty and staff will be charged $2.00 for admission. Clemson students will be admitted free.
