Clemson To Face #12 Virginia Commonwealth On Saturday In Women’s Tennis Action

Feb. 9, 2007

CLEMSON, SC – The 14th-ranked Clemson women’s tennis team will travel to Richmond, VA on Saturday to take on the #12 Virginia Commonwealth Rams. The match is scheduled to begin at 2:30 pm at the Thalhimer Tennis Center.

The Tigers own a 4-1 overall record for the 2007 season while VCU boasts an 8-1 ledger.

Clemson’s Federica van Adrichem won all three of her singles matches last weekend at the USTA/ITA National Indoor Championships, while freshman Ani Mijacika improved to 9-4 overall with a 2-1 singles record last weekend.

Saturday’s match featuring Clemson and Virginia Commonwealth will be just the fourth meeting in history between the two schools. The Tigers hold a 2-1 edge in those contests, but the Rams claimed last year’s match, 6-1, at the Clemson Indoor Tennis Center. The teams have met just one previous time in Richmond, as the Tigers defeated VCU, 4-3, during the 2005 season.
