Clemson To Compete At ACC Championships

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson women’s track and field team will compete at the 2002 Atlantic Coast Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships Apr. 19-20 in Charlottesville, VA. The Lady Tigers are in search of their third ACC Championship title after finishing second in 2001.

At the 2001 ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Orlando, FL, The Clemson women’s track and field team finished second overall with 169 points. After placing seventh in the 2000 meet, this is the fourth time the Lady Tigers finished as the runnerup at the ACC Outdoor Championships. They were also second in 1992, 1993 and 1998. Clemson has won two ACC titles – in 1991 and most recently in 1999. Seniors Jamine Moton, Kyana Elder and Sheri Smith are each looking to add to their ACC titles. Moton is a three-time ACC Outdoor Champion in both the shot put and discus throw, and a one-time ACC Outdoor Champion in the hammer throw. Elder will compete for her fourth ACC honor in the short hurdles this weekend. Smith was the 2001 ACC Outdoor Champion in the triple jump.
