Clemson Tigers Network Announces 2017-18 Radio Flagship & Affiliates

CLEMSON, S.C. – Clemson Tigers fans can expect to benefit from local origination of all radio programming by WCCP-FM 105.5 The Roar and an expanded coverage in the Upstate by Entercom Greenville stations for the upcoming athletic seasons. The changes are a result of agreements with a new Clemson flagship and Greenville stations for the Clemson Tigers Network, announced today by Clemson athletics and Clemson Sports & Campus Marketing – powered by JMI Sports.

For the first time in years, the Tigers will operate with a true local flagship station, WCCP-FM 105.5 The Roar. Owned by Byrne Acquisition Group and based in Clemson, WCCP will originate Clemson’s broadcasts. A Clemson-centric, sports-talk station, WCCP has been airing Clemson sports programming since 2002.

“Our commitment to Clemson runs very deep,” said Debra Jones, general manager of The Roar. “As a result, we are very pleased to serve as the official flagship station for the Clemson Tigers Network. Our entire team is committed to producing quality programming and sharing it with the entire network.”

Greenville and Upstate fans will receive the full pregame and postgame football lineup of programming, including the Tiger Tailgate Show and the Fifth Quarter Show, through a new agreement with Entercom’s WTPT-FM 93.3 The Planet. The Planet is a 93,000-watt station based in Greenville, with a reach from Clemson to Charlotte. The Planet will also offer the games through its streaming capability so fans can listen to the games anywhere, anytime.

“We are very excited to be bringing Clemson’s pregame programming to fans in Greenville and across the Upstate through WTPT-FM The Planet, the station with the largest signal in North Carolina reaching the most fans and covering the most territory,” said Steve Sinicropi, vice president and market manager for Entercom Greenville. “The addition of more baseball and women’s basketball games to our lineup further solidifies ESPN Upstate as the source for sports games and opinions.”

In addition to football, the Clemson and Greenville markets will receive all live-game broadcasts for men’s basketball, women’s basketball and baseball via the Clemson Tigers Network on WCCP 105.5 The Roar and Entercom Greenville’s WORD/WYRD ESPN Upstate. In the past, baseball and women’s basketball had limited availability in Greenville. Tiger Calls coach’s call-in shows for football and men’s basketball will also be aired throughout the Upstate on Entercom stations. WCCP-FM and WTPT-FM will stream this programming as a simulcast with the live programming.

“We believe the expanded distribution of Clemson’s excellent sports programs plus the simulcast streaming of these programs by WCCP-FM The Roar and Entercom Greenville will make it easier and more convenient for Tiger fans to follow their favorite teams wherever they are at game time,” said Scott Morris, president of Clemson Sports & Campus Marketing. “We are proud to make these improvements in our first year as the multimedia rights and marketing partner for Clemson athletics. Given the market demand, hopefully we can continue to increase the amount of Clemson programming available to even more fans across the state.”

In Clemson, including most of the Greenville area, all Clemson Tigers Network programming will air on WCCP-FM 105.5 The Roar. In Greenville and the greater Upstate, Entercom will carry the football programming on 93.3 The Planet/WTPT-FM. The Clemson basketball, baseball and women’s basketball will run on ESPN Upstate 97.7 FM / 97.1 FM / 950 AM / 1330 AM, online at ESPNUpstate.com and on the ESPN Upstate app.

Clemson broadcasts will also be available by streaming at ClemsonTigers.com, on the Tune-In app and on SiriusXM satellite radio.
