Clemson Tennis Returns To Hoke Sloan For Date Against Georgia

Feb. 20, 2007

CLEMSON, SC – The Tiger women’s tennis team will return to the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center on Wednesday afternoon for its first home match since Jan. 28. Thirteenth-ranked Clemson (6-1) will play host to #17 Georiga (5-0) at 2:30 pm.

Wednesday’s match will be the 38th in a series that dates back to 1976. The Tigers hold a slight 20-17 all-time advantage and defeated the Bulldogs in Athens, GA last season, their first win on Georgia’s home court in 21 years. The Bulldogs lead, 8-6, in matches played in Clemson, SC and won the most recent meeting, defeating the Tigers by a 5-2 margin during the 2005 season.

Clemson’s doubles team of Maria Brito and Alexandra Luc is riding a six-match winning streak that has bettered its record to 9-2 overall with an unblemished 6-0 mark in the spring season. Meanwhile, sophomore Federica van Adrichem has claimed four straight singles contests for a 4-0 record in dual matches.
