Clemson Swimming Loses Meet Against Kentucky

Fort Pierce, FL- The Clemson Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving teams lost their meets against Kentucky Tuesday morning in Fort Pierce, Florida. The Lady Tigers had two double winners, but fell to Kentucky 137-106. This brings their record to 0-5 (0-3 ACC). Meanwhile, the men lost a close meet to the #17 Wildcats 125-118. The Tigers dropped to 2-3 (1-2 ACC). All three of their defeats have come against ranked opponents.

Kim Routh was a dual winner on the women’s side as she captured the 200 freestyle (1:52.11) and the 500 freestyle (4:59.95). Michelle Parkhurst also came away with two victories in the 50 backstroke (26.98) and the 100 backstroke (57.66). Rachel Regone recorded two second place finishes in the 50 freestyle (24.18) and the 100 freestyle (52.75). Cassy LaRussa placed second in the 200 freestyle, (1:52.88) just behind Routh. Summer ODonnell completed the 1-2 finish in the 500 free (5:01.49), also behind Routh. Sarah Cefalu was the top finisher in the 100 IM (59.79) coming in second, and Jen Grove also finished second in the 50 butterfly (26.68) for the Lady Tigers.

On the men’s side, Clemson’s 200 medley relay team of Joel Johnson, Andy Bergren, Mark Vahle and Mark Vahle with a time of 22.49, respectively. Bergren recorded three second place finishes in the 50 breaststroke (26.65), 100 breaststroke (58.13), and 100 IM (52.85).

Clemson will next compete against Davidson on January 7 in Davidson. The Tigers have defeated Davidson in each of the last three seasons.

News
