CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams will travel to Atlanta, GA to participate in a three-day meet, Georgia Tech Invitational, from Friday November 20 to Sunday November 22.
“We are excited to be a part of the Georgia Tech Invite,” says Head Coach Christopher Ip. “It is a mid-season championship format meet where we can get our swimmers and divers acclimated to prelims and finals. This meet also allows us to compete against ACC teams and some out of conference programs.”
The teams that are participating in the Georgia Tech Invite will be Clemson, Florida International, Florida State, Florida, Gardner-Webb, Georgia Tech and NC State. On Friday and Saturday the preliminaries will start at 10:00 a.m. and the finals will begin at 6:00 p.m. Then on Sunday the prelims will start at 9:00 a.m. and the finals will be at 3:00 p.m.
This meet will feature some of the top athletes in the country as the University of Florida’s men’s team is currently ranked fourth in the CSCAA Poll, and their women’s team is fifth. ACC foe Florida State is also ranked in the top 25 as their men are 20th and their women are 25th.
Entering this meet the Tigers’ men’s team is 3-1 (0-1 ACC) and the women are off to a 5-0 start (2-0 ACC). In their last meet the Tiger squads defeated rival South Carolina on October 30.
On the men’s side, Clemson’s Tom Recko will look to continue his winning streak in the backstroke events. He currently has the top time in the ACC in the 200 and the fourth best in the 100. Freshman Katrina Obas will challenge in the breaststroke events along with Kelli Kyle in the backstroke events.

Following the Atlanta meet, Clemson will have a long break before they travel to Boca Raton, FL to take on Florida Atlantic on December 18.
