On Wednesday, January 19, nearly 40 Clemson University student-athletes gathered together to participate in a thank-a-thon. The Clemson Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) coordinated the Fourth Annual Thank-a-Thon to thank the numerous IPTAY Donors who make their athletic scholarships possible through their generous monetary contributions.

Together, the student-athletes combined to call all the Heisman, Fike and McFadden level donors, and a portion of the IPTAY level donors. The baseball and women’s soccer teams both made the event a team-volunteering affair. Here’s what two student-athletes from the respective teams had to say about their involvement in personally calling donors to thank them for their generosity:

“The Thank-a-Thon is a great event because it gives the student-athletes an opportunity to reach out and say thank you to all of the donors that make our experience here at Clemson possible. As student-athletes at Clemson, we are extremely fortunate to have such great opportunities with regards to everything from scholarships, facilities and great fan support, and that is all made possible through the generous contributions of the donors. Their contributions are a main reason why Clemson is able to compete at a national level both athletically and academically year after year and the Thank-a-Thon gives us the opportunity to let them know how much we appreciate their support.”-Phil Pohl, Senior – Baseball

“The Thank-a-Thon is a great opportunity to recognize where a huge amount of the support for Clemson Athletics is coming from, and to personally let our IPTAY donors know how much their generous contributions mean to us. Being able to speak with some of our donors has reminded me how fortunate I am for everything I’m lucky enough to be experiencing as a student-athlete at Clemson.”-Kate Biggerstaff, Sophomore – Women’s Soccer
