Clemson Rowing’s Varsity 8+ Boat Named ACC Crew of the Week

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson rowing team’s varsity 8+ boat claimed this week’s Atlantic Coast Conference Crew of the Week honors for its performance at the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships this weekend in Oak Ridge, TN. This is the fourth time this season that the 17th-ranked Tigers have received the honor. Clemson’s varsity eight was previously selected as crew of the week on March 26 and April 9, and the second varsity eight boat claimed the honor last week.

The varsity 8+ Tigers won the grand finals with a time of 7:02.04, outdistancing Miami who finished second with a time of 7:04.89. Clemson also defeated Tulsa, Tennessee, Duke and Kansas State. The Tigers also claimed the Daughtery Cup as the fastest crew in the Carolinas.

The ACC Crew of the Week is comprised of Catherine Sloan, Farrell Finstad, Lauren Henne, Kathy Sickinger, Lucy Doolittle, Heidi Robillard, Lisa Mischley and coxswain Gail Cadorniga.

Clemson will host the 2001 ACC Rowing Championships Saturday on Lake Hartwell. The championship regatta will include Clemson, Duke, North Carolina and Virginia and is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m.
