Clemson Rowing To Compete In Carolina Classic

Clemson, SC – The Tiger rowing team will travel to Durham, North Carolina, to compete in the Carolina Cup Saturday on Lake Michie. Clemson, Duke, and North Carolina will compete on the 4500 meter course. “You can practice for a race, but until you participate in a race you don’t gain the experiences to draw from,” said head coach Susie Lueck. “So we are looking to get multiple races in a day in a competitive environment.”Carolina Cup Schedule

Tigers In The PollsClemson earned a top 20 national ranking for the first time in the history of the program during the 2000-01 season. The Tigers received votes in the April 4 poll, ranking 26th in terms of possible points. On April 11, Clemson broke into the top 20 with a ranking of 15. Clemson dropped to 17th on April 18 and remained there for the next two ranking periods. The team finished the season ranked 21st. 2000-01 Clemson Rowing HonorsHead coach Susie Lueck, in her fourth season with the Tigers, received the 2001 Coach of the Year honors, while the Tigers’ first varsity eight boat was selected as the 2001 ACC Crew of the Year. Current members of the rowing team that were a part of the ACC Crew of the Year include coxswain Gail Cadorniga, Aimee Fox, Katherine Sloan, Farrell Finstad, Megan McGuirt, Lucy Doolitte, Kathy Sickinger, and Lisa Mischley. Doolittle and Fox were also named to the nine member All-ACC team. It was the second straight year Doolittle was chosen and the first all-conference honor for Fox.Lucy Doolittle Named All AmericanLucy Doolittle, a senior from Mauldin, SC, was named the Tigers’ first rowing All-American, earning first-team honors. The All-American rowed in Clemson’s first varisty 8+ boat all season. Doolittle was chosen based on the following criteria: Varsity Eight Record (requiring at least 75% participation in varsity eight races), strength of schedule, nomination rank (the rank order of nominees as chosen by the nominating coach), coaches recommendation, 2K ergometer score, and a member of the all region first team.Clemson’s Upcoming Schedule
