Clemson Rowing Finishes Fifth at South & Central Regionals

OAK RIDGE, TN – The Clemson rowing team finished fifth and the South & Central Regionals held in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The Tigers took second in the South region for the third consecutive season with 369 total points. Virginia claimed the overall championships with 451 points.

Clemson’s Varsity Eight crew finished third in the grand final with a time of 6:31.46. ACC foe Virginia took the win in the Varsity Eight race with Michigan State finishing second, Michigan fourth, Wisconsin fifth and Tennessee sixth.

The Second Varsity Eight crew took fifth in the grand final with a time of 6:48.24. Virginia won the race, followed by Wisconsin, Ohio State, Michigan and Tennessee.

In the Varsity Four, the Tigers finished sixth in the grand final with a time of 7:43.93. Virginia came in first with Wisconsin taking second, Michigan State third, Iowa fourth and Michigan fifth.

The Tigers’ Open Four finished in third place in a time of 7:39.06 in the grand final. Virginia’s “B” crew took first and their “A” crew was second. Ohio State, Wisconsin and Virginia’s “C” crew were fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.

Clemson will now wait to learn their fate for the NCAA Championships that will be held in Sacramento, CA May 28-30.
