Clemson Rowing Competes Against Duke and Tennessee

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson rowing team raced against Duke and the University of Tennessee in the Clemson Invitational at Lake Hartwell on Saturday morning.

In the first varsity 8+ race, Clemson finished first with a time of 6:38.8. Tennessee’s first varsity 8+ boat finished second at 6:43.2, and Duke came in third with a time of 6:45.9.

Clemson’s second varsity 8+ recorded a time of 6:49.5 to best Tennessee and Duke’s second varsity 8+ which came in second and third, respectively with times of 6:58.1 and 7:11.8.

The Blue Devils’ first novice 8+ boat won their race with a time of 7:03.5 while Clemson’s first novice 8+ boat finished one second behind with a time of 7:04.5. Tennessee finished third with a time of 7:16.0.

In the second novice 8+ race, Tennessee A won with a time of 7:25.6. Duke finished second with 7:30.0 and the Volunteers’ B team finished in fourth place in 7:40.1.Clemson came in third with a time of 7:44.2.

Duke claimed the first varsity 4+ race, finishing with a time of 7:36.7. Clemson’s first varsity 4+ finished the race with a time of 8:06.3.

In the second varsity 4+ race, Duke A finished in first place at 7:55.7. Clemson came in second with a time of 8:01.4 and Duke’s second varsity 4+ B team finished third with a time of 8:11.7.

The Clemson rowing team will compete in the San Diego Crew Classic in San Diego, CA on April 7-8.
