Clemson, S.C.—The Clemson men’s golf team continues its busy and challenging fall schedule this weekend when it competes in the Maui Jim Intercollegiate at Mirabel Country Club in Scottsdale, Arizona. The 14-team tournament will be held September 21-23 at the par 70 course.
The national field includes teams from Houston, NC State, Augusta State, Georgia State, Georgia Tech, LSU, Kent State, Oregon, Oregon State, Auburn, Kansas State, Arizona State, and Minnesota. Arizona State is the defending champion.
Clemson will bring a lineup that includes four players with NCAA National Tournament experience. Bryson Nimmer is the Tigers No. 1 player after winning the Carpet Capital Classic in the season opener two weeks ago. Nimmer overcame a six-shot deficit entering the final round to gain his first career win with a 206 score for 54 holes.
William Nottingham returns to the Clemson lineup this weekend after finishing 22nd at The Carpet Classic with consistent scores of 72-73-72. He was a big reason Clemson finished fourth in the field of 15 teams from around the nation.
Jacob Bridgeman and Kyle Cottam both finished in a tie for 34th at The Farm with scores of 220 and will be back in the Clemson lineup. Bridgeman is a true freshman playing in his second career tournament, while Cottam was a starter on Clemson’s NCAA National Tournament team last year.
Turk Pettit will be in his first tournament of the year this weekend. The sophomore was a first-team freshman All-American last year when he had four straight top three finishes, including a victory, during one stretch in the spring.
The 14 teams in the field will play 18 holes a day, Friday through Sunday and scoring will be available on golfstat.com.
