Clemson Ranked First in the South Region in the NCAA Division I Rowing Poll

Clemson, SC – Two days after winning the ACC Championship, Clemson’s rowing team earned the top spot in the South region in NCAA Division I Rowing poll. This marks the first time in school history that the Tigers have been ranked first in the region as a team.

The Varsity 8+ crew is also ranked first in the region after a dominating victory over Virginia at the ACC Championship on Monday. The Tigers became the first Varsity 8+ crew to knock off the perennial powerhouse in the conference regatta on the way to being named the ACC Crew of the Year. Five members of the crew earned All-ACC honors, including Brittany Cummings, Hilary Cumbest, Carla Englund. The Varsity 8+ is currently ranked #10 in the USRowing/CRCA poll.

The Tiger’s Varsity 4+ also earned a victory in its race at the ACC Championships, and is currently ranked first in the South region ahead of crews from Virginia, Louisville, Tennessee, Texas, and UCF.

The Second Varsity 8+, which finished in second place on Monday, is ranked second in the South region behind Virginia.

Clemson’s will once again travel to Oak Ridge, Tennessee on May 16-17 for the South/Central regionals.
