CLEMSON, SC – The men’s basketball team is the No. 6 seed for the ACC Tournament and will face No. 11 seed NC State in the opening round on Thursday. The game is slated to be played at 9:00 PM, or twenty minutes after the conclusion of the Georgia Tech/North Carolina matchup, at the Greensboro Coliseum. The winner will advance to Friday’s quarterfinal round to play No. 3 seed Florida State in the same time slot. Clemson finished the regular season Sunday with a 21-9 overall record, 9-7 in ACC play. It was the first time in school history the Tigers posted three consecutive winning seasons in conference play.

This will be Clemson’s first meeting with NC State in the ACC Tournament since 1994, when the Tigers prevailed 76-63 in the opening round in Charlotte. Clemson and NC State have met seven previous times in the ACC Tournament, with the Wolfpack holding a 5-2 record against the Tigers in those seven games.

This will be the second meeting of the 2009-10 season between the two schools. Clemson won 73-70 in Raleigh on Jan. 16 behind a 20-point effort from senior Trevor Booker. In fact, Clemson has won five straight in the series against the Wolfpack entering Thursday’s contest.
