Clemson Men’s Swimmer to Represent ACC in 2002 NCAA Foundation Leadership Conference

April 22, 2002

CLEMSON, SC – Clemson swimmer James Stoffer, will be one of 300 student-athletes at the 2002 NCAA Foundation Leadership Conference. The conference will be held May 26-30 at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex and Coronado Springs Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. Stoffer was selected for his outstanding performance in-and-out of the pool, but mainly for his leadership abilities.

“James (Stoffer) is the best leader by example that I have coached in the past 10 years,” said head swimming Coach Bruce Marchionda. This past season at the ACC Championships, Stoffer posted a personal best time of 1:50.88, in the 200-fly. The time was the fourth fastest of the season for the Tigers in the event.

A two-year letterman, Stoffer is a sophomore marketing major from West Chester, OH. In high school Stoffer was a Junior National & Senior National team member with the Cincinnati Marlins, and was a two-time High School All-American.
