Clemson Men’s Soccer To Play South Carolina On Sunday

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson men’s soccer team will play South Carolina on Sunday, October 6 at 2:00 p.m. in Columbia, SC.

Clemson is ranked fourth by Soccer America and ninth by the NSCAA. South Carolina is ranked ninth by Soccer America and 11th by the NSCAA. The Tigers are ranked sixth in the Scoccertimes.com poll and the Gamecocks are ranked fifth in this listing.

Clemson’s Dimelon Westfield has scored seven goals in the last four matches. He scored two goals in both the Gardner-Webb (Sept 19) and N.C. State (Sept. 22) matches. He scored one goal against Gonzaga (Sept. 27) and two in the Fairfield (Sept. 29) match.

Clemson is 6-1-1 on the year. The Tigers are 1-1 in the ACC this season. Clemson has won four matches in a row.

Westfield is Clemson’s leading scorer with 20 points. He has nine goals and two assists this season. Fabio Tambosi has seven assists to lead the team.

This will be the 30th meeting between Clemson and South Carolina on the soccer field. Clemson leads the overall series 18-10-1. Clemson has a 6-0-1 record in the last seven meetings. Head Coach Trevor Adair is 6-1-1 vs. South Carolina. Clemson leads the series in matches played in Columbia, SC 8-4-1.

Doug Warren is one of Clemson’s best ever goalkeepers. The senior is fourth on the Clemson career list for most saves (184) and third for the best goal allowed average (0.93). This season he has a 0.61 goal allowed average and has allowed only four goals.
