Clemson Men’s Cross Country Team Places 13th At The 2004 Pre-Nationals Meet

TERRE HAUTE, IN – The Clemson men’s cross country team placed 13th at the 2004 Pre-Nationals meet held Saturday and hosted by Indiana State University. The Tigers tallied 378 points, and were paced by Derrick Wyatt. Wyatt crossed the finish line in 24:31.9 to record a career-best time. Colorado, ranked sixth nationally, won the race with a 63-point total, and 11th-ranked Cal-Poly-SLO placed second with its 165-point performance. Georgetown, which entered the race ranked seventh, took third with 172 points and 15th-ranked Arizona State’s harriers totaled 179 points. Air Force, ranked 13th, scored 216 points to round out the top five teams.

Two other Tigers also recorded season or career-best performances in Terre Haute, IN. Itay Magidi posted a career-best outing, finishing the 8K race in 24:36.2 to place 28th. Matt Clark ran a 24:44.8 to finish 43rd overall and Ryan Fenton recorded a season-best time of 25:20.6 to finish 110th. Sean Reilly was the Tigers’ number-five runner with a time of 25:57.0 to take 175th place. Jim Wahl finished 182nd with a time of 26:01.3, and Brian Soder was 206th with his time of 26:27.1

Clay Pendleton and Matt Pimentel also competed for the Tigers on Saturday, racing in the 8K open race. Pimentel finished 56th overall with a time of 26:06.3 and Clay Pendleton completed the race in 26:33.9 to finish 101st.
