QUICK FACTS Demontez Stitt scored 20 points and had eight assists in the loss at Maryland. He was the first Tiger to score 20 points and have at least eight assists since the 2001-02 season when Edward Scott had 30 points and 16 assists against Wake Forest in a 118-115 double overtime Clemson win. Still has a 40/8 assist/turnover ratio since he came back from knee surgery in December. Andre Young had a career high nine assists at Maryland against just one turnover. He also made four three-point shots and has now made at least one three-point shot in each of his last 20 games, including all 19 this year. Stitt (.414) and Young (.404) are both shooting at least 40 percent on three-point shots this year. Clemson’s starting guards have not shot at least 40 percent from three-point range over the course of the season since 1986-87, the first year of the three-point goal, when Michael Tait and Grayson Marshall did it. Clemson had a 20/11 assist/turnover ratio at Maryland. It was the first time in 11 years Clemson had at least 20 assists and less than 15 turnovers in a loss. Clemson has won five of the last six games against NC State with the only loss coming by two points in the ACC Tournament first round last year. NC State’s last win at Littlejohn took place in 2005-06 by a 94-85 score in 2 OT. Clemson was 4-4 against NC State when Wolfpack Coach Sidney Lowe was a player between 1979-80 and 1982-83. Trevor Booker, scored nine in a row against Boston College on Jan. 9, 2010. A victory on Tuesday would assure Clemson of a winning record in the month of January. Clemson is 3-2 so far. Clemson has had a winning January just once since the 1996-97 season. That came in 2008-09 when Clemson was 5-2. Maryland ended Clemson’s streak of consecutive games holding the opponent under 50 percent FG%. The Terps made 24-48 for an even 50 percent.
