Clemson Men’s 4x400m Relay Team Wins USA Nationals

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson men’s 4x400m relay team of Otto Spain, Jacey Harper, Garrick Copes and Ato Modibo won the event at the Grand Prix USA Indoor Track and Field Championships held Friday and Saturday in Atlanta, GA. The results previously released by the USATF incorrectly listed Clemson finishing fourth. The Tigers won the event with a time of 3:11.10. This is the first time a Clemson 4x400m relay team has won the USA Nationals.

Several other members of the Clemson men’s and women’s track and field teams also competed at the USA Championships. Jamine Moton and Marcia Smith represented the women’s team while Kai Maull, Malcolm Reynolds, Sultan Tucker, Ian Potter, Otto Spain, Jacey Harper, Garrick Copes and Ato Modibo represented the men’s team. The individual results are listed below.

Women’s Results Shot Put – Jamine Moton (6) – 52’4 1/2″ Weight Throw – Jamine Moton (5) – 63’5″ 400m Dash – Marcia Smith (6) – 54.80

Men’s Results Long Jump – Kai Maull (14) – 23’7 1/2″ High Jump – Malcolm Reynolds (9) – 6’11 3/4″ 60m Hurdles – Sultan Tucker (semifinals) – 7.87, Ian Potter (prelims) 8.51 4x400m Relay – Otto Spain, Jacey Harper, Garrick Copes, Ato Modibo (1) – 3:11.10
