Clemson in Seventh Place after Second Round of Carpet Capital Collegiate

Clemson, S.C.—Senior Bryson Nimmer shot three-under-par 69 on Saturday to lead the Clemson men’s golf team in the second round of the Carpet Capital Collegiate at The Farm in Dalton, Georgia.  The Tigers currently sit in seventh with a 584 out of 15 teams in the national field that includes nine schools from the ACC and the SEC.

Georgia Tech and Tennessee are leading after two rounds shooting a team score of 20-under-par 556.  Alabama is third at 558, while Auburn is fourth at 577.  The Tigers are seventh at 584, six shots behind Virginia and South Carolina.

Nimmer, had four birdies in the second round, giving him a total of 10 between the two rounds, putting him in a five-way tie for seventh in the field of 81 golfers. The Bluffton, S.C. native only had one bogey in his second round of the season in shooting a three-under-par 69 and is 10th in the individual standings.

William Nottingham is one-over-par 145 through two rounds thanks to rounds of 72-73. The junior is tied for 23rd after 36 holes. He finished the second round strong, with two birdies on his last four holes.

Sophomore Kyle Cottam is Clemson’s third best golfer through 36 holes with a 148 total after rounds of 73 and 75. He had the top hole of the day among Clemson players in the opening round on Friday with an eagle three on the 498-yard 12th hole.

Freshmen Jacob Bridgeman and Zack Gordon stand at 150 after two rounds. Both shooting 73 in the opening round.

Senior Coleman Self is playing the event as an individual and shot two-under-par.  The Greenwood, S.C. native moved up 20 places in the individual standings after his first round of 76.
