Clemson Notes:

  • Clemson (11-10, 0-8 ACC) is coming off of a 60-46 loss to No. 9/8 Louisville on Thursday, Jan. 26. Sophomore Aliyah Collier posted a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds, while freshman Kobi Thornton was just one rebound away from a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds.
  • Collier leads the team in rebounding (7.8 rpg) and is third on the team in scoring at 9.5 ppg. Her rebounding numbers are among the best in the ACC, as she ranks ninth in rebounds per game (7.8) and eighth in defensive rebounds per game (4.9).
  • Thornton is averaging 8.6 points per game and 5.4 rebounds per game. Her field goal percentage of .560 (61 for 109) is sixth-best in the ACC and her 2.8 offensive rebounds per game are eighth in the conference.
  • Sophomore Danielle Edwards has started all 21 games for the Tigers at the point guard position, leads the team in minutes played per game (31.6) and is second in scoring at 9.9 ppg. Her .845 free throw percentage (49-for-58) ranks sixth in the ACC.
  • Freshman Jaia Alexander earned ACC Rookie of the Week honors on Jan. 23 for her performance the week of Jan. 16-22, after she averaged 12.0 ppg in two contests and also earned the first start of her Clemson career (at NC State on Jan. 22).
  • Junior Nelly Perry leads the Tigers in scoring (13.7 ppg) and assists (3.2 apg).
  • When the Tigers faced Louisville on Jan. 26, it was the fifth ranked opponent the team has faced in the past seven games and the seventh ranked opponent they have faced so far this season.
  • Clemson won its first eight games of the season, the program’s best start since the 1998-99 season. Clemson entered ACC play with an 11-2 record, the program’s best non-conference record since the 2003-04 season. 

Series Information:

  • Clemson leads the all-time series against Georgia Tech with a 43-34 record, which includes a 22-14 record in games played in Littlejohn Coliseum
  • The two teams met twice in 2016, with the Yellow Jackets winning both contests (76-63 on Jan. 24 in Clemson and 77-48 on Feb. 14 in Atlanta).
  • The Tigers and Yellow Jackets will meet again in 2017, on Thursday, Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. in Atlanta.
