Clemson Finishes Tied 4th at Mason Rudolph Championship

Clemson, S.C.— Freshman Ivy Shepherd shot a one-over par 73 on Saturday to lead the Clemson women’s golf team in the second round. The Tigers finished the second round tied for fourth with Auburn at seven-over par 583.

The third and final round of the Mason Rudolph Championship has been cancelled due to rainy conditions. The final results will revert back to 36-hole totals.

Vanderbilt finished in first place as a team with a 17-under par 559 and the host team is led by Abbey Carlson, the individual medalist who shot an impressive six under par 66 in the first two rounds. 2017 NCAA Champions Arizona State finished in second with a five-under par 571.

“We had a bit of a struggle today, but the girls fought hard,” said Head Coach Kelley Hester. “The course set up was really tough and the rain started in with about six holes to play, so we hope we are able to finish up tomorrow at 9 a.m.”

Shepherd is the top Tiger with her three-under par 69 opening round and a one-over par 73 in the second round. She has 11 birdies between the first two rounds in her first collegiate tournament.

Freshman Alexandra Swayne finished at one-over par, while junior Ana Paula Valdes finished three-over par after an opening round of three-under par. Gracyn Burgess and Lindsay May finished seven-over and eight-over, respectively.
