Clemson Falls Short in ACC Volleyball Tournament Semifinals

Charlottesville, VA – Clemson’s bid for its third straight upset in the ACC volleyball tournament fell short on Saturday, as the Tigers lost 3-0 to North Carolina (19-30, 29-31, 23-30). The Tigers finished the 2004 season with a 20-14 record. North Carolina advances to the championship game on Sunday to take on the winner of Maryland-Duke.

Lori Ashton led the Tiger offense with 14 kills, while Leslie Finn had 12 kills. Finn had 70 kills in three matches, establishing a new ACC Tournament record. Anna Vallinch had 20 digs to finish the year strongly, while Sue Eckman had 16 digs for the Tigers.

For North Carolina, Dani Nyenhuis led the way with 16 kills. McKenzie Byrd had 46 assists, Caroline deRoeck had 20 digs, and Amy Beaver contributed eight total blocks.
