Aug. 19, 2003

Clemson, SC – Clemson finished its preseason camp on Tuesday with a three-hour practice on the facility behind the Jervey Athletic Center. Classes start at Clemson on Wednesday and with it the normal afternoon one practice per day schedule.

“We have had a good camp, the players have been in good shape,” said Bowden. “Joey Batson and his staff have done a good job getting our players in shape. We are now in the process of game plan preparation for Georgia.”

The Tigers meet the ninth ranked Bulldogs at Death Valley on Saturday, August 30 at 12:00 Noon. Bowden will hold his final stadium scrimmage of the preseason on Wednesday afternoon.

“After Wednesday the pegs will be in the holes. We will be in preparation for Georgia and we should have most of the starting spots determined. There probably will be some battles that won’t be decided until next Thursday, but Wednesday is the last scrimmage opportunity to make a statement.”

Two new injuries were reported on Wednesday. Reserve center Dustin Fry suffered an ankle injury and reserve quarterback Chansi Stuckey suffered a pulled abdominal muscle. Gene Pate, wide receiver and starting holder, suffered a knee injury in the afternoon practice on Monday. He was in a yellow jersey on Tuesday. Todd McClinton continues to miss practice as the result of a feinting spell that took place at the in the third practice of the preseason, while LeRoy Hill was back at practice after a minor ankle injury earlier in the week.
