Clemson Drops 4-3 Decision to Georgia Tech

RALEIGH, NC – The 39th-ranked Clemson women’s tennis team fell to #22 Georgia Tech on Friday afternoon in the first round of the ACC Championship in Raleigh, NC, by a score of 4-3. The Tigers fall to 13-10 overall while the Yellow Jackets improve to 14-8.

In doubles play, Georgia Tech won two of three matches to earn the doubles point. Clemson’s 36th-ranked duo of Laurence Jayet and Alix Lacelarie fell to Georgia Tech’s Mason Miller and Jaime Wong by a score of 8-4 at number one doubles. At flight two, the Tigers’ Anna Dolinska and Anna Savitskaya lost an 8-5 decision to the Yellow Jackets’ Sekita Grant and Mysti Morris. Clemson’s number three doubles team of Richele LeSaldo and Milena Stanoycheva defeated Georgia Tech’s Catherine Gunn and Fallon Koon by a score of 8-5.

In singles action, 40th-ranked Alix Lacelarie of Clemson defeated the Yellow Jackets’ 59th-ranked Jaime Wong in three sets at number one singles, 6-4, 3-6, 7-6(5). The Tigers’ Anna Savitskaya (#120) was victorious at number two singles over Mysti Morris of Georgia Tech, 7-5, 6-2. At flight three singles, Clemson’s Ana Stiglic dropped a 6-1, 6-2 decision to 67th-ranked Catherine Gunn of Georgia Tech. Tiger Laurence Jayet won a three-set decision over Mason Miller of the Yellow Jackets at the number four slot, 3-6, 7-5, 6-2. Clemson’s Ioana Paun was defeated at flight five by Georgia Tech’s Laura Ozolins, 7-6(5), 3-6, 7-5. At flight six singles, the Tigers’ Milena Stanoycheva fell to Yellow Jacket Sekita Grant, 7-5, 6-0.
