Clemson Divers To Compete At 2004 NCAA Zone Diving Regional In Athens

CLEMSON, SC – Divers Eric Shulick and Jessica Watcke are scheduled to represent the Tigers at the 2004 NCAA Zone B Diving Regional on March 12-14 in Athens, GA. The competition will be held at Gabrielsen Natatorium on the University of Georgia’s campus. Shulick will compete in the one and three-meter diving competition and Watcke will compete in the one-meter for Clemson.

Competition at the Zone B Diving Regional will begin on Friday morning with the women’s one-meter competition at 10:00 a.m., followed by the men’s three-meter at 3:30 p.m. On Saturday, the men’s one-meter will begin at 10:00 a.m. and the women’s three-meter will get underway at 3:30 p.m.

This will be Shulick’s second consecutive trip to the Zone Diving Regional. At the 2003 Zone meet, Shulick qualified for the NCAA Championships after finishing 13th in the one-meter competition with 547.55 points. This season at the ACC Swimming & Diving Championships, the junior from Naugatuck, CT won the conference title in the one-meter and took seventh place in the three-meter for the Tigers.

Watcke, a sophomore from Cheshire, CT, will compete at the 2004 Zone B Diving Regional for the first time this weekend. This season, Watcke finished in the top-three in 15 of the 19 dual-meet diving events (one and three-meter) that she competed in. She placed 16th in both the one and three-meter at the 2004 ACC Swimming & Diving Championships.

The results from the five zone meets held across the country will determine the men’s and women’s diving participants at the 2004 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships.
