CLEMSON DEFEATS WOFFORD 6-2

CLEMSON, SC-Allison Graham scored two goals and had one assist and teammate Courtney Foster had one goal and one assist as 19th-ranked Clemson defeated Wofford 6-2 in a women’s intercollegiate soccer match at Clemson, SC Monday night.

With the win, Clemson improves to 2-0 on the year, while Wofford falls to 0-1 this season.

Clemson scored early at the 2:27 point.. Graham scored on an assist by Jenny Anderson. Anderson sent a ball from midfield and Graham ran down the pass and sent a shot over the Wofford goalkeeper.

The Lady Tigers’ Paige Ledford was crossing the ball and a Wofford defender knocked the ball into the Clemson goal at the 10:03 mark.

Graham scored again with 21:51 gone in the match on a 30-yard shot. Kristen Procopio Allen was credited with the assist.

Lydia Vandenbergh scored on a 18-yard shot early in the second half with an assist by Foster. Foster scored on a break away that was created by Lindsay Brown’s pass. Foster scored at the 58:42 point.

Wofford scored with 67:00 gone in the match. Mallory Bramlett scored on a 15-yard shot with an assist by Kate Schallhorn. Abby Anderson scored the Terrier’s second goal with an assist by Jaime Cutts (82:17).

The Lady Tigers scored in the last minute as Mary Jean Sullivan scored with an assist by Graham.

“I thought that we played well tonight,” said head coach Todd Bramble. “I liked how we spread out the goal scoring. We had two girls who scored their first career goals. I am very proud of them. Overall, I’m satisfied with the win.”

Clemson returns to action this weekend as it hosts the Clemson Invitational on Friday and Sunday. Participating in the tournament will be Texas, UAB, and Furman. The Lady Tigers square off against Texas on Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
