Box Score

SPARTANBURG, SCKeegan Priest scored the game’s lone goal with 9:19 left to go in regulation to lead Clemson to a 1-0 win over Wofford in an intercollegiate soccer match at Spartanburg, SC Tuesday night. The Tigers improve to 4-5-2 overall, while Wofford falls to 4-9 this season.

Clemson scored at the 80:41 mark as Eric Cava and Tommy Drake. Priest sent a bending shot and beat the Wofford Keeper, Joey Taylor to his left. Cava and Drake were credited with the assists.

“This was the sort of game that we may have lost last year,” said Clemson Head Coach Trevor Adair.

“I give Wofford credit. Ralph Polson (Wofford Coach) has done a great job here. They have improved and this is a hard place to come in and play. They defended well tonight. They frustrated us. This was a game that Priest and his technically ability can come out. He found a way to win and scored a great goal. I think we were fatigued tonight after the trip to Virginia. I’m very happy to get the result.”

The Tigers will play host to N.C. State at Historic Riggs Field on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. in the Tigers’ next action.
