Clemson Defeats William & Mary 4-0

WILLIAMSBURG, VA – Clemson defeated William & Mary 4-0 in a men’s intercollegiate tennis match at Williamsburg, VA Wednesday evening. With the victory, Clemson improves to 6-8 overall, while William & Mary falls to 9-12 this season. The Tigers are ranked 63rd according to the latest ITA poll.

The match was delayed for nearly an hour due to thunder and lightning in the Williamsburg, VA area.

Clemson took the doubles point and registered singles wins at the number-one, three and five positions to claim the 4-0 win.

The Tigers won at the top two doubles slots to capture the initial point of the match. Clemson increased its lead to 2-0 as 49th-ranked Yannick Maden downed Adrian Vodislav at the No. 1 singles position 6-1, 6-0. Maden is now 22-5 in singles matches this season.

At the number-three spot, Ayrton Wibowo defeated Ben Hoogland 6-4, 7-6 (5), as the Tigers upped its lead to 3-0.

Robert Pietrucha, 6-2, 6-4 at the number-five position.

With the team result decided, the other three singles matches were abandoned.

Clemson will return home and play host to two ACC matches this weekend at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center. The Tigers will play host to Maryland on Friday and Boston College on Sunday. Clemson has a 2-1 record in ACC play this season.
