Clemson Defeats Wake Forest 1-0 In Women’s Soccer

WINSTON-SALEM, NC – Deliah Arrington scored the game’s only goal with 2:32 left in regulation in leading 13th-ranked Clemson to a 1-0 win over 19th-ranked Wake Forest in a women’s Atlantic Coast Conference soccer match at Winston-Salem, NC Tuesday night.

With the win, Clemson improves to 9-2 overall, 3-2 in the ACC. Wake Forest falls to 6-5-1 overall, and 2-2 in the league play.

This was Arrington’s seventh goal of the season. Tatum Clowney sent a pass to Arrington. Arrington’s shot from 12 yards out went into the bottom left corner of the goal.

Clemson’s goalkeeper Katie Carson recorded her seventh solo shutout of the year. With tonight’s performance, she became the Atlantic Coast Conference’s all-time career leader in this category with 31.

“I am proud of our team,” said Clemson Head Coach Todd Bramble. “This was a big win on the road for our team. We showed a lot of character, we stuck together and found a way to win. I could not be prouder of our team.”
