Clemson Defeats USC Upstate 2-0

CLEMSON, SC– Tate Parrish assisted on both goals as Clemson defeated USC Upstate 2-0 in a men’s intercollegiate soccer match at Clemson, SC Wednesday night.

Clemson is now 3-2 on the year, while USC Upstate falls to 0-3 this season.

Clemson scored early in the second half. Tate Parrish served the ball from the left to the right post. Eric Cava sent the ball to Danny Poe. Poe sent a six-yard shot in the netting for his first goal of the season.

The Tigers scored their second goal in the 64th minute. David Newton scored with assists by Parrish and Parker Rogers. It was Newton’s first goal of the year.

Clemson will have the weekend off and play host to Stetson on Tuesday, September 18, at 7:00 p.m. in the Tigers’ next action.

“I’m disappointed in our decision making on the field,” said Clemson Head Coach David Newton, Parker Rogers, Greg Eckhardt and Havird Usry played well in the back. In the second half we started playing better.”
