Clemson Defeats UCLA In Women’s Soccer, 1-0

CLEMSON, SC – Freshman Lindsay Brown (Encinitas, CA) scored the game’s lone goal late in the first half in leading sixth-ranked Clemson to a 1-0 win over 14th-ranked UCLA in the second game of the Clemson Women’s Soccer Nike Kick-Off Classic at Clemson, SC Friday evening.

It was the season opener for both teams. Clemson is ranked sixth according to the preseason NSCAA poll, while UCLA is ranked 14th.

The Lady Tigers’ Julie Augustyniak tried to play the ball on the left side to Deliah Arrington. A UCLA defender tried to clear, and Bowne picked up the ball and sent a 20-yard shot from the left over the goalie’s head and into the right corner of the net. Time of the goal was 35:13.

On Sunday, August 27, Georgia State will play UCLA at 12:00 p.m. and Old Dominion will play Clemson at 2:00 p.m.
