Clemson Defeats Oral Roberts 2-0 in Memphis Invitational

MEMPHIS, TN – David Bell and Dane Richards both scored in leading Clemson to a 2-0 win over Oral Roberts in the second day of the Memphis Invitational Sunday.

With the win, Clemson is now 4-0 on the year. This is the best start for Clemson since the 1998 season.

Memphis is playing Cal State Fullerton tonight in the other game.

Clemson scored in the 72nd minute as David Bell scored from 10 yards out with an assist by Danny Poe.

Dane Richards scored his fifth goal of the season as he scored on a penalty kick at the 72:38 mark.

Clemson will play host to number-one ranked Maryland on Friday night, September 8, at 7:00 p.m.

“We defended well and I am very happy to have two wins at this tournament,” said Clemson Head Coach Trevor Adair. “We had two shutouts and we played well defensively. We will now prepare for Maryland coming to town Friday, and we are hoping for a large crowd.”
