Clemson Defeats Miami 2-1

CORAL GABLES, FL–Katie Vogel and Julie Bolt both scored goals in leading Clemson to a 2-1 win over Miami in a women’s Atlantic Coast Conference soccer match at Coral Gables, FL Wednesday night.

With the win, Clemson improves to 7-6-1 overall, and 2-3-1 in the ACC. Miami falls to 7-6-1 overall and 1-5-1 in league play.

Clemson scored first at the 21:10 mark. Katie Vogel scored with an assist by Molly Franklin. This was Vogel’s third goal of the year and Franklin’s third assist of the season.

The Lady Tigers made it 2-0 when Julie Bolt scored with an assist by Meghan Smith in the 32nd minute. This was Bolt’s second goal of the year and Smith’s third assist this season.

Miami scored in the 79th minute. Paulelette Ricks-Chambers scored her fourth goal of the season with an assist by Sheuneen Ta.

“It was a total team effort,” said Clemson Head Coach Katie Vogel and Nuria Zufia played tonight.”

Clemson will play host to Wake Forest on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at Historic Riggs Field in the Lady Tigers’ next action.
