Clemson Defeats Lafayette in NCAA Men’s Soccer

CLEMSON, S.C. – Wojtek Krakowiak scored three goals in leading top seeded and number-one ranked Clemson to a 5-0 win over Lafayette in the first round of the NCAA Men’s Soccer Tournament at Clemson, SC Sunday afternoon.

With the win, Clemson improves to 21-1 overall, while Lafayette finishes the season with a 16-5 record overall.

Kroakowiak now has 30 goals this season. He is third on the school’s list for most goals scored in a single season with 30. Henry Abadi (1973) and Jimmy Glenn (1993) both hold the school record for most goals in a single season with 32.

The Tigers’ Mark Lisi and Scott Bower both had two assists each in the Tigers’ win. Lisi now has 17 assists and Scott Bower has 16 assists this season.

Clemson has now won 16 matches in a row, this ties the school record for the longest winning streak in school history. The 1973 and the 1977 teams both had winning streaks of 16. Clemson will play host to William & Mary in the NCAA Round of 16 next Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. on Riggs Field. William & Mary has a 15-7-2 record overall and were 2-1 overtime winners over South Florida.
