Clemson Defeats Furman 80-59 In Women’s Basketball

CLEMSON, SC – Senior center Erin Batth scored 22 points (her jersey number) and had 10 rebounds in leading Clemson to a 80-59 win over Furman in a women’s intercollegiate basketball game at Clemson, SC Wednesday night.

With the win, Clemson improves to 4-2 overall, while Furman falls to 3-3 this season.

Batth finished the night 10-15 from the field and had five assists, three blocked shots and two steals.

Chrissy Floyd had 15 points as she was 7-14 from the floor for the Lady Tigers. She also finished the night with two assists and three steals. Clemson’s Marci Glenney also had 14 points.

Furman was led by Mary Brock with 12 points, and teammate Althea Bufford had 11 points. Furman was led in rebounding by Kena Hodges with seven boards.

Clemson had a 18 point lead, 40-22 at the half. Furman narrowed the advantage to 13 (57-44) with 8:06 remaining as Althea Bufford hit a three-pointer from the left side. From this point, Clemson went on a 14-6 run and built a 21-point lead, 71-50 with 3:47 remaining in the game as Forns hit a three-point basket at the top of the key.

Clemson will play host to ACC-foe Duke on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m.
