Clemson Defeats Furman, 1-0, In Women’s Soccer

CLEMSON, S.C. – Deliah Arrington scored with 7:20 remaining in regulation in leading 19th-ranked Clemson to a 1-0 win over Furman in a women’s intercollegiate soccer match at Clemson, SC Tuesday night.

With the win, Clemson improves to 8-4 overall, while Furman falls to 5-5-1 this season. The Lady Tigers are ranked 19th by Soccer America and 24th by the NSCAA.

Arrington scored her eighth goal of the season at the 82:40 mark with assists by Heather Beem and Jenny Anderson.

“It was good to play at home and get the win,” said Clemson Head Coach Todd Bramble. It was a hard fought game and Furman is a good team. They are better than their record. I a proud of the way we responded and kept fighting until we scored the goal. I am happy with the way we are defending. Our defense has been the key to our success in the past few games. Lauren Heos has done a great job in goal for us. Our defense has been the key to our success.

Clemson will play host to number-one ranked North Carolina on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. on Riggs Field in the Lady Tigers’ next action.
