Clemson Defeats Charlotte 4-1 In Women’s Soccer Exhibition Action

Aug. 18, 2004

CLEMSON, SC–Kelly Schneider scored two goals in leading Clemson to a 4-1 win over Charlotte in a women’s soccer exhibition match at Clemson, SC Wednesday night.

Charlotte scored first on an unassisted goal by Leslie Canales with 14 minutes gone in the match.

Schneider scored at the 37:50 mark and the 44:35 point in the match to give Clemson the lead for good.

The Lady Tigers’ Lydia Vandenberg added a goal with 66 minutes elapsed. Clemson’s Sarah Turner added a goal late in the second half.

Clemson will play Kennessaw State on Monday, August 23, in another exhibition match before opening the 2004 season at Texas on Friday, August 27.

“Given the injuries that we have, we got a lot out of this match,” said Clemson Head Coach Todd Bramble. “We still have a long way to go to accomplish our goals. During the course of the game, our attacking mentality changed and that was the difference. Individually, we have a lot of options and we held four players out that are competing for starting positions. The competition for the starting positions will make us that much better.”
