Clemson Clashes with North Carolina in First Round of ACC Tournament

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson Lady Tiger basketball team will head to Greensboro, NC to begin preparation for the 2012 ACC Tournament on Wednesday. Twelfth-seeded Clemson (6-21, 2-14 ACC) opens tournament play against fifth-seeded North Carolina (19-10, 9-7 ACC)  on Thursday at 11:00 am at the Greensboro Coliseum. Fans will have several ways to watch the game and track results. The game will be televised by RSN (Itoro Umoh Coleman played on each of those four consecutive teams to reach the tournament final, which Clemson has appeared in six times overall. Clemson is 29-31 all-time in the ACC Tournament, with its last win coming in 2009 when 23 Shaniqua Pauldo points helped Clemson knock off fifth-seeded Georgia Tech. Pauldo and fellow senior Lindsey Mason have logged nearly 4,000 minutes in a Clemson uniform. Pauldo has tallied 940 points in her career, while Mason’s 161 rejections are second-best in school history. The Tigers rank fifth in the nation right now at 6.2 blocks per game and second in the ACC, trailing just North Carolina. Clemson’s 166 blocks have already set the school standard for a single season. Upon arrival, Clemson is scheduled to take part in an open practice at Greensboro Coliseum at 11:00 am on Wednesday, before heading to a local elementary school for some community service work. The Lady Tigers will then practice at Greensboro College in the afternoon before returning to the hotel. The team will travel to the Coliseum for the game at 11:00 am at 9:30 on Thursday. The winner of the game will take on Georgia Tech on Friday at 11:00 am.
