Clemson Baseball Regional Notes

*Ryan Riley had a career high five RBIs for Clemson in today’s game. In fact, he had never had more than three RBIs in a game this year. Riley was 2-2 with three runs scored on the five RBIs today. He scored in three consecutive innings, the fourth, fifth and sixth.

*Clemson was 24 for 51 for the game as a team. The Tigers were 23 for 44 as a team through the first seven innings.

*Clemson’s 24 hits today set a school record for an NCAA Tournament game. The previous record was 23 set against Florida State on June 5, 1959 in a game played in Gastonia, NC. Clemson won that game 24-2.

*Clemson had a season high 21 runs and season high 24 hits in today’s game.

*The 24 hits by Clemson were the most by the Tigers in any game since March 30, 1997 when Clemson had 24 in an 18-7 win over Wake Forest.

*The 21 runs scored by the Tigers were the most by Clemson in any game since a 24-4 win over Georgia Tech on 4-23-99 in a game at Clemson.

*The 21 runs by Clemson were the third most in an NCAA Tournament game, the most by a Tiger team in an NCAA game since a 22-4 win over East Tennessee State at Clemson in 1980. The record is 24 runs in a 24-2 victory over Florida State in 1959.

*Every starter in the Clemson lineup had at least one hit by the fifth inning.

*The bottom three spots in the Clemson order scored 11 runs and had 12 hits.

*Jarrod Schmidt is now 9-0 for the season, the most wins in an undefeated season by a Clemson pitcher since 1991 when Mike Kimbrell was 11-0. Chuck Porter, 12-0 in 1976, has the single season record for most wins in a perfect season.

*Clemson is now 4-0 in Regional championship round games played at Clemson. Clemson is now 17-6 in NCAA regional games played at Kingsmore Stadium.

*Clemson now has 48 victories, most by a Clemson team since 1996 when Clemson had 51 in a College World Series season.
