Clemson Athletics And Comcast Sports Southeast/Charter Sports Southeast Reach Agreement

Clemson, SC — Bobby Robinson, Clemson University Athletic Director, announced Friday afternoon that an agreement has been reached with Comcast Sports Southeast/Charter Sports Southeast to televise Clemson’s nine remaining football games for the 2001 season on a tape-delay basis this fall. Each week’s game will broadcast Friday evening at 8:00 PM (Eastern). The 2001 tape-delay broadcast will kickoff year one of a four-year agreement between CSS and the Clemson University Athletic Department.

In addition to the tape-delay football broadcasts, CSS will also broadcast selected women’s basketball and baseball games.

CSS, a 24-hour regional sports network launched on September 3, 1999, was formed to provide unique sports programming for fans in the Southeast. CSS reaches more than 2.6 million southern cable subscribers, including homes in Alabama, Georgia, Arkansas, Florida, Kentucky, North Carolina, Tennessee and Mississippi. Current South Carolina markets include Charter cable systems in Belton, Chester, Gaffney, Gray Court, Greenville/Spartanburg, Union, West Pelzer and Whitmire, as well as Comcast cable systems in Calhoun Falls, Charleston and Newberry.

CSS is a partnership between Comcast Corporation and Charter Communications. Comcast, the nation’s third-largest cable provider, is the majority owner of The Golf Channel, Comcast SportsNet Baltimore/Washington D.C., QVC and E Network. Charter, the nation’s fourth-largest cable provider, is among the country’s leading broadband communications companies.
