Clemson At Western Carolina Cancelled

Clemson, SC – Clemson’s baseball game at Western Carolina on Tuesday afternoon has been cancelled due to inclement weather. No makeup date has been determined at this time. Western Carolina is scheduled to come to Clemson on April 24 at 7:15 PM.

Clemson will play host to Winthrop on Wednesday night at Kingsmore Stadium at 7:15 PM. The game will be broadcast on the Clemson Tiger radio network.

Clemson enters the Winthrop game with a 21-8 record, while Winthrop has an outstanding 26-5-1 ledger. The Tigers swept New York Tech over the weekend and Jack Leggett’s team has won 11 of its last 14. Winthrop swept Liberty University over the weekend and has won eight in a row and 14 of the last 15.

Winthrops victims this year include Kentucky (twice), Florida (twice), Indiana and Alabama.

Clemson’s top hitter for the season and its hottest hitter of late is first baseman Michael Johnson, who enters the Winthrop game with a .414 average. He has eight home runs and a .793 slugging percentage. He also leads the team in on-base percentage with a .556 figure.

Jeff Baker is second on the team in hitting with a .390 figure. That average includes a team best nine home runs and a team best 41 RBIs. The top pitcher for the Tigers has been Steve Reba, who has a 5-0 record and a 1.99 ERA.

Winthrop is led at the plate by Jason Colson and Todd Leathers. Both players have started every game for the Eagles and they both have a .367 batting average. The top pitcher is Jeremy Herauf, who is 7-1 on the mound with a 3.46 ERA. Winthrop as a team has an outstanding 3.06 ERA.
