Nov. 26, 2000

Clemson Coach Tommy Bowden

On West Virginia Announcement that Rich Rodriguez will be named Head Coach on Monday: “I am happy for Rich and his family. As a graduate of West Virginia, that is a special place for him. I wish him the best.

“I also want to thank him for what he did for the Clemson program. He had a big impact on our success over the last two years on offense. He had a lot to do with our three-game improvement each of the last two years and we broke a lot of records in some major areas on offense.

“As far as a replacement is concerned, there are several qualified candidates on our present staff. Or, I could go outside the staff. Whatever the decision, it will be in the best interest of our program.”
