ATLANTA, GA – In keeping with its tradition of inviting team celebrities to deliver the game ball prior to both the Chick-fil-A Bowl and the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game, game officials today released the names of the game ball delivery honorees for Saturday night’s Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game between Auburn and Clemson.Randy Campbell, who quarterbacked Auburn to an SEC Championship in 1983, will deliver the game ball for the Auburn Tigers. Campbell led a balanced-offense that included former running back Bo Jackson. Campbell finished his career at Auburn with a 20-4 record as well as ownership of Auburn’s lowest interception ratio (five interceptions in 300 attempts). First-team All-American selection Jeff Davis will deliver the game ball for the Clemson Tigers. The former linebacker was named ACC Player of the Year in 1981, the same year he led Clemson to a national championship as team captain. He currently is third all-time in Clemson history for career tackles (469) and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2007. Davis played six seasons in the NFL for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Campbell and Davis will ride together in a KIA Optima – provided by official vehicle sponsor KIA Motors – to midfield just prior to the coin flip to present the officiating crew with a pair of game balls from the two teams. The pair joins a list of other game ball honorees that include Herschel Walker (Georgia), Natrone Means (North Carolina), Chuck Wiley (LSU), Charlie Ward (Florida State), George Rogers (South Carolina), Shaun Alexander (Alabama) and Antonio Freeman (Virginia Tech) among others. In addition to the game ball honorees, other team celebrities will be on hand to make appearances and sign autographs at the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game FanZone presented by Coca-Cola Zero including Auburn’s Heath Evans and Clemson’s Dwight Clark.
