Catalioto Leads Tigers at Jerry Pate

Clemson, SC – Martin Catalioto fired a career best 69 in the second round of the day to lead the Tigers at the Jerry Pate Intercollegiate at the Old Overton Golf Club in Birmingham, AL. Clemson stands in 11th place in the 12-team field through 36 holes on the par 71 course that is 6958 yards in length.

Oklahoma State and Georgia Tech are tied for first after 36 holes with a 552 score. Augusta State is third at 553 and host school Alabama is fourth at 554. Georgia is fifth at 556, followed by Auburn 557, Southern Cal, 561, TCU 563, Wake Forest 567, UAB 574, Clemson 579 and Vanderbilt 581.

Clemson shot a team score of 295 in the opening round, them improved by 11 shots in the second round. Catalioto is Clemson’s individual leader with rounds of 72-69 for a 141 total, good enough for 25th place individually. It was his first ever round in the 60s as a Clemson golfer. Jack Ferguson had rounds of 73-71 and stands in 35th place at 144.

Stephen Poole, Brent Delahoussaye and Brian Duncan are all tied for 56th with 149 totals. Poole and Delahoussaye had a consistent 75-74 18-hole scores, but Duncan went from an opening round 79 to a one-under-par 70 in the second round.

Mark Harrell of Alabama has the individual lead with a 136 total after rounds of 66 and 70. The 54-hole event concludes on Tuesday.
