Boston College Defeats Clemson 3-0

BOSTON, MA–Boston College defeated Clemson 3-0 in a women’s Atlantic Coast Conference soccer match at Boston, MA Sunday afternoon.

With the win, the Eagles are now 6-2 overall, and 1-0 in the ACC. Clemson falls to 5-4 overall and 1-1 in league play.

Kia McNeill scored in the 23rd minute for her seventh goal of the season with an assist by Kelly Henderson to give the Eagles a 1-0 advantage.

Boston College took a 2-0 lead before the half in the 42nd minute as Molly Dane scored her second goal of the year. Maddie Johnson and Kelly Henderson assisted on the goal.

The Eagles scored early in the second half in the 54th minute. Tara Luciana scored her fifth goal of the season with an assist by Caitlin Burke.

“The score is not indicative of our effort and our performance in the match,” said Clemson Head Coach Todd Bramble. “We did not respond to their direct and physical style of play. When teams play this way, we need to respond better and quicker and we will definitely work on responding better.”

Clemson will play host to North Carolina at Historic Riggs Field on Thursday, September 28, in the Lady Tigers’ next action.
