Baseball’s Patrick Boyd Undergoes Surgery

Clemson, SC–Clemson sophomore outfielder Patrick Boyd (Palm Harbor, FL) underwent surgery on Monday to repair a torn labrum in his shoulder. The surgery was performed by Clemson Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Larry Bowman and was deemed a success.

The amount of playing time Boyd will miss has not been determined, but he is expected to be back before the end of the season.

Boyd, the 1998 ACC Rookie of the Year, played in three games and started two as a designated hitter for the Tigers in a weekend sweep of Kansas State to open the 1999 season. Boyd finished the series 5-10 at the plate with a team best six runs scored. He recorded two doubles, a home run and three RBIs in the series.
