Baseball Will Watch Selection Show From Doug Kingsmore Stadium

The Clemson baseball team will practice Monday beginning at 12:30 PM at Doug Kingsmore Stadium and then will meet in the team lounge beneath the stadium at 3:00 PM to watch the NCAA Tournament Selection Show, which will be televised live by ESPN. Television stations wishing to film practice are encouraged to attend, but all coach and player interviews will be conducted following the announcement of the regional brackets in the team lounge. All media are encouraged to attend the viewing of the selection show.

CLEMSON IN THE REGIONALS: Clemson was selected May15 to host one of the 16 regional tournaments. Clemson has also played host to the NCAA Tournament in 1980, 1981, 1994, 1995, 1996, and1998. Three of the previous six times, Clemson has advanced to the College World Series. Clemson is 14-6 all-time in NCAA tournament games played at Clemson. This is the second-year of the 64-team format for the NCAA Tournament. The winner of the regional at Clemson will advance to the Super Regional at a site to be determined. The Super Regional will feature a three-game series with the winner advancing to Omaha for the College World Series. Last year, Clemson won the regional played at Fayetteville, AR before losing a three-game series at Texas A&M.

Clemson will be playing in the NCAA Tournament for the 14th straight year (every year since 1987). Overall, the 2000 NCAA Tournament will be Clemson’s 26th. Clemson is 64-53 in the NCAA.

CLEMSON REGIONAL GAME TIMES: The tournament will be held May 26-28 at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. The tournament will begin at 2:00 PM on Friday. Clemson will play Friday at 7:00 PM. Game times on Saturday are 11:00 AM, 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM and game times for Sunday are 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM. The 7:00 PM game will only be played if both of the remaining teams after the 2:00 PM game have one loss each.

CREDENTIALS: Media requesting credentials are asked to fax their request on official company letterhead to the Clemson Sports Information Office at: 864-656-0299 no later than 12:00 noon on Wednesday, May 23.

CLEMSON REGIONAL TICKETS: The Clemson ticket office will sell tournament passes this week. Reserved Tickets can be picked up at the ticket office between May 23-25 between 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Tickets that have not been picked up by May 26 will be available 90 minutes prior to the first game at the third base gate at Kingsmore Stadium. No tickets will be mailed.

Single session general admission tickets will be available at $8 for adults and $6 for students high school age and under. Students who attend one of the four participating schools will be admitted for $6 with valid student identification. For more information, call 1-800 CLEMSON or 864-656-2118.
