Ashlan Ramsey Makes Cut at Kraft Nabisco Championship

RANCHO MIRAGE, CA – Future Clemson women’s golfer Ashlan Ramsey make the cut by three shots at the Kraft Nabisco Championship in Rancho Mirage, CA on Friday afternoon. The native of Milledgeville, GA, who will be one of the leaders of J.T. Horton‘s first Clemson women’s golf teams this coming August shot a second round 75 and stands in 42nd place after 36 holes of the first major of the year on the LPGA Tour.

Ramsey is one of five amateurs to make the cut and she ranks fourth among the nine amateurs who started the tournament on Thursday. Ramsey’s second round included four bogeys, the same amount she made in the first round. The difference was she had just one birdie after making five in the first round.

The 17-year-old hit seven of 14 fairways, an improvement over the first round when she hit just 5-14, and her number of putts went from 29 to 28. But, she hit just seven of 18 greens in regulation, down from 12 of 18 in the first round.

Another difference for Ramsey on Friday compared to Thursday was her performance on the seventh and 17th holes. She birdied both of those holes on Thursday, then bogeyed both holes on Friday.

After the opening round 71 and second round 75, she stands at two over par 146 on the par 72 Mission Hills Course. She is just five shots out of the top 10 entering Saturday’s third round. Inbee Park is the leader at seven under par 137.
